Some days a playdate calls for something special – like sending the kids to eat separately and preparing tea and cherry muffins with pink cream cheese frosting for moms! Ok, you can share the muffins with the kids too, especially that they are really delicious – just keep the tea for moms.

Why tea time though? Because its easy to set up, makes moms feel special and is perfect with a homemade treat. And this cute little treats are actually simple muffins dressed up to look more fancy – with the easiest cream cheese frosting ever.

Here’s how to set the cutest and easiest tea time for your mom friends – or for your mom and aunties! Mother’s day is approaching remember!

  1. Prepare pretty teacups – thrift shops and yard sales are where I got mine from!
  2. Make two or three sorts of tea: I suggest one black for the tired mom, one green for the crunchy mom and one sweet tisane for the I-already-had-three-coffees-today mom.
  3. Serve home bake treats.
  4. Add flowers – place a couple of blooms in the teacups and spread them around the table- a minimum effort for the maximum effect!

And here’s what you” need to bake your own Cherry Muffins With Pink Cheese Frosting:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup frozen cherries ( plus a teaspoon of sugar)

In a small bowl mix the frozen cherries with one teaspoon of sugar. Set aside. Now mix all the dry ingredients together, and then combine butter, eggs and milk. Now mix it all together, and once its all smooth add cherries, pour into muffin molds and bake for around 25-35 minutes on 350F.

How to make the cream cheese frosting:

  • 1 cup soft ( at room temperature) cream cheese
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • pink food colouring

Mix them together until smooth. Depending from how saturated you want your colour to be, add one to 3 drops of food colouring.

Breakfast out of the ordinary

Great breakfast ideas

Even though I hate getting up early, then as soon as I’m in the kitchen making my first coffee, I feel like morning is my favourite moment of the day. I love looking at the morning sun soaking the table, and my full of energy kids around it (unless of course they are screaming/whining or crying because they just can’t wait one more minute for food).

And although I’m not usually in a mood to cook before 9am, I do like to change our routine a little and prepare something different from time to time. So here is a couple of my favourite ways to start a day right:

Bacon and eggs cups

This is one of the I- seen-it-somwere-on-Pinterest recipes. And I found it to be a perfect rainy day/cold morning pick me up! You can start preparing it in the morning and I really suggest serving some salsa on the side!

Bacon & eggs cups :

White bread slices
Cooked bacon

Place white bread slices in a greased muffin pan. Bake on 350F for around 5 minutes. Then add bacon, and pour one egg. Bake until the egg is done ( around 15 minutes).

The simplest French toast

Now, don’t get me wrong, but in general I think that a French tost is not worth the fuss. I never liked the overly soaked and egg tasting French tost. Nobody does, right? But this one, made with real French baguette and vanilla extract, is just perfect, and definitely worth the time ( 10 minutes of preparation).

Simple French toast:

1/3 French baguette
3 eggs
1/3 cup of milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix milk with eggs and vanilla, and pour it over the baguette cut in slices (use a deep bowl) and let it soak for at least 5 minutes. Melt butter, and bake it until golden on a pan or a skillet. Serve warm with maple sirup and berries.

And this is another Pinterest inspired recipe. I did change it a little though: I was hoping that red pepper will desapere among the ham and cheese, and that it’ll be easier for my baby to eat it (and yes, she did notice it, and no, she didn’t eat any).

But the rest of us really liked them, and they are a great lunch option too!

Breakfast muffins :

4 eggs
1/2 cup ham cut in slices
1/2 cup old cheddar
1/3 cup red pepper cut in pieces

Mix it all together, and pour in to greased muffin tin. Bake on 360F for around 25 minutes.

And if yore just plain tired and don’t feel like cooking, you can always upgrade the plain milk and ceral :

Chocolate granola:
1/2 cup granola
1/4 cup chocolate chunks
1 cup Greek yoghurt

And that is my favourite breakfast!

Raspberries & white chocolate muffins


It’s one of these perfect combinations, sweet, creamy and sour all at once. White chocolate and raspberries muffins, pure perfection :). I won’t lie to you that it’s healthy, but it may be considered as full of vitamin C and antioxidants, thanks to raspberries :). And I say that it’s a perfect snack on a sunny afternoon when you are playing in the park, or when you need a bit of sweetness after running errands all day :).

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder

4 eggs
2 tablespoons sour cream ( or buttermilk )
1/4 cup soft butter

1 cup white chocolate chips
1 cup frozen raspberries

Mix all dry ingredients, then add eggs, sour cream and butter, mix well together.


Add chocolate and fruits, but don’t mix too much or your batter will get all pink. Unless you wish to have pink muffins, then go ahead 🙂


Bake around 25 minutes on 350F.

Apple-cacao super moist muffins


This is another recepie that is rather healthy yet still very yummy and sweet. A perfect combination I would say :). Specially that muffins make for a such a perfect snack when you are in the hurry , and I don’t know about your kids, but mine loves them . Everyone who tried them was asking me how come they are so moist and what’s inside, and the answer is: grated apples! You can’t see them, but they add the sweetness and the inchace the texture. And adding avocado oil instead of any other fat not only benefits your health but also adds to the sweet taste. So I hope you’ll like them too 🙂

1 1/3 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 tea spoon baking powder
5 tea spoons cacao
1 tea spoon cinnamon

2 eggs
1/4 cup avocado oil
1/4 milk

2 cups grated apples

Mix all of the dry ingredients , then add eggs, oil and milk. When the mixture is homogene add apples. Bake around 25 minutes on 325F. You can decorate them with nuts like I did 🙂 . Enjoy !


Blueberry banana oat muffins


I love homemade muffins. I know what’s inside, I control the sugar and fat , while still enjoying the sweet treat with my little one. Thanks to blueberrys and bananas this recipe recuires very little sugar,and the muffins turn out moist on the inside, but a bit crunchy on the outside. A perfect breakfast / snack/ tea time treat.

1 1/2cup flour
1cup quick oats
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup canola oil
3 eggs

2 mashed bananas
1 cup blueberries

Start by mixing together dry ingredients , then add milk, oil and eggs. When blended add bananas, and after well mixed add blueberries. Place in muffin baking dish, and bake on 375F for around 20- 25 min. Enjoy !


Peanut butter breakfast muffins


Weekend is coming and this is my version of easy yet special Saturday morning breakfast. Sure it takes more time than preparing cereal , but it’s really not more than 10 min of preparation, and I think it’s just fine.They are full of fiber thanks to outs, and good fats from peanut butter and nuts.But my daughter liked them cause they where crunchy and sweet, and they smelled divine!

1 cup flour
1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup quick outs
1 pinch baking powder
1/2 cup of peanut butter
1/4 cup of milk
1/4 cup of melted butter
2 eggs

Mix the dry ingredients. Add the rest. Mix gently with a spoon. Divide in to small muffin cups. Bake for around 20 min on 350 F.
Eat warm with milk or coffee. Enjoy your weekend !
