Who doesn’t like some delicious festive cookies to munch on, while dressing up the Christmas tree? Or organizing a cookie swap party? Or gifting friends and family with a batch of home-made goodness? Nobody, right? So today I have these Peppermint and White Chocolate Sugar Cookie recipe for you, perfect for all of the above! Although, it’s more of a cookie hack to be honest.

Of course, the best sort of cookies, are the ones that only grandma used to make – because of course noting is as good as an old family recipe passed through generations of passionate bakers!

Except, that we don’t always have time to make that big batch of perfect home-made cookies. All the cutting and baking is definitely fun, but sometimes between work and home it’s just not happening.

So with this cookie hack, nobody will know you didn’t actually bake these cookies. Or you can tell them the truth, and I’m sure everyone will still love these! Because these melting in your mouth shortbread cookies, mixed with sweetness of white chocolate and the crunch of the peppermint candy cane, are simply delicious!

And it’s a perfect treat for a snowy day, and one of my families favorite too. You can even involve the kids in making these, they’ll be great little helpers! My daughters loved dipping them in white chocolate and sneaking some right away!

Oh, and you can even prepare them ahead of time, and freeze them for up to a month!

Easy and puffy soft sugar cookies recipe , so delicious and uncomplicated!  And once frosted with this vanilla cream cheese frosting, they simply melt  in your mouth!

What I love the most about winter weekends, is that we can stay in our pajamas all day and bake cookies together. And one of my favorite recipes is this one here, for perfectly puffy and delicious holiday soft sugar cookies!

These cookies are melting in your mouth, so easy to make, and frosted with delicious and simple vanilla cream cheese frosting! Pure winter perfection, if you ask me!

And, I really find that cold mornings are meant to be spent in comfy and cozy onesies while making a mess in the kitchen with kids. And my both daughters, they just love helping me with baking! I let them mix all the dry ingredients together, and then they choose their cookie cutters. And let me tell you, we have a real collection of cookie cutters now : forest animals, Xmas trees and snowman, little hearts and geometric shapes! But for little hands it’s easier to operate smaller cookie cutters, so we stick to these mostly.

And while the weather outside might be dreadful and cold, I make sure we’re cozy and warm, in our winter fleece pajamas, onesies and cozy winter slippers from Giant Tiger. Actually my girls love their onesies so much they want to wear theirs all day, and not only in the morning! ( And they might have been wearing their onesies to groceries the other day.. But I don’t blame them, they’re so cozy and soft!) While me, I love to have some soft flannel pyjama pants and micro polar on me, and yes, I love winter prints too! Having some nice pj’s and slippers make getting up early on weekends a bit easier! ( because #momlife! )

So while we’re all cozy and warm, we make cookies and listen to Xmas songs, because that really makes everything more cheerful!

And here’s what you’ll need to make your soft sugar cookies:

For the Holiday Soft Sugar Cookies:

– 2 cups sugar
– 1 cup softened butter
– 3 eggs
– 9 teaspoons of milk
– pinch of salt
– 5 cups flour
-5 teaspoons baking powder

For the Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting:

– cream cheese package
– 1 1/4 cup sugar
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
– drop of food coloring

Preparation:

Mix the dry ingredients separately in a bowl. In a mixer, combine softened butter, eggs sugar and milk. Once all is well blended, add dry ingredients. Mix slowly together. Divide the dough in two. ( Since it’s a recipe for at least two big sheets of cookies, I usually work with first batch while the other half of my dough refrigerates. You can keep in a fridge for up two 2 days, if you feel like finishing your cookies a bit later.)

Roll and cut! Have fun with shapes, or use a glass to cut out simple circles like my grandmother used to do!

Once they are ready bake, set your oven for 350F and bake for around 10 minutes. If you want them to be really soft and puffy they can’t get brown! Not even a little!

Prepare vanilla cream cheese frosting: Mix all the ingredients in a mixer, and blend well together. Add a drop of food coloring.

Let them cool down completely before frosting.

Frosting hack: use a small zip bag, fill it with frosting, cut a tiny hole, and then frost!

And so even though I’m not the biggest fan of cold winter months, I think that as long as we have someone to snuggle and make cookies with, then these Canadian winters of ours are not that bad after all!

Chocolate peanut butter gingerbread shake

Chocolate, peanut butter and gingerbread Christmas shake: my new favourite festive treat!

I believe in balance in life, and that’s why some days, all I need is a little over-the-top festive treat: like this Chocolate Peanut Butter Gingerbread Shake! I’m a sucker for anything gingerbread and even bigger one for peanut butter, so obviously I needed to try these two together! And guess what: they are made for each other!

You could absolutely serve it hot if you’d like, or cold like I did, and I’m sure your kids would love it too. Mine sure did!

And, if you’d like to make it extra special (though for adults only) you could add a bit of Bailey’s!

What you’ll need :

2 cups milk
1 cup natural smooth peanut butter
1 tablespoon chocolate souse
1/4 cup well crushed gingerbread cookies
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Foamed milk (or whipped cream)

Easy peanut butter shake

Mix everything well together. Pour in to glasses, and top with foamed milk or whipped cream.

Thus chocolate peanut butter and gingerbread shake is so easy to make!

You can top it up with even more chocolate souse and some gingerbread cookies!

The beast sugar cookie recipe out there! Melting in your mouth, buttery, simply perfect!

These sugar cookies are my favourite cookies ever: melting in your mouth, buttery, really perfect! They are easy to make, easy to freeze and they make for a perfect DIY Christmas gift once packed!

When I was little we used to make these cookies, and hang them on a Christmas tree with other hand made decorations. I think I’ll hang some too, even though I know they won’t hang for long (guess why!)

I did mine with my daughters, and they loved cutting out shapes, and decorating with colourful icing ( aka, eating it by the spoon!). This year I tried the simple Royal icing, and I really love how it turned out!

What you’ll need :

3/4 cup softened butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 and 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Start by mixing together butter, with sugar, egg and vanilla extract. Add the dry ingredients, and mix it well. Roll the dough in a ball, and chill in the fridge for at least an hour (I chilled mine overnight).

Roll it, and cut out cookies. When they’re ready for baking, place them on baking pan, and bake for around 8 to 12 minutes on 300 F (keep a close eye on them, depending from your oven it can be longer, but you don’t want to overlook them!)

For the icing:

2 cups icing sugar
1/4 cream of tartar
2 1/2 teaspoon egg whites
Food colouring

Mix it all together on high in the electric mixer, if to thick, add a little bit of hot water. Divide in to smaller bowls and add a drop or two of the food colouring, mix, and decorate the cookies!

For the best effect try using a lot of different shapes and colours!

Once decorated, store them in a dry place, just look out, they disappear really fast!

And if you’d like to freeze them for later, then do it before baking! Just place your unbaked cookies on the baking sheet, and leave for a couple of hours in the freezer. Once freezed, put them in to a small zip bag. When you’re ready for a new batch, just place them directly on the baking sheet and bake for 3 to 4 minutes longer (remember not to over bake!)

Yes, I’m not joking, these healthy peanut butter & banana cookies are really a good nutritious choice! Whenever it’s because you decided to eat more healthy food, or you just love peanut butter ( that’s me) I dare you to try them !

You see, I think that everything in life has it’s place and time, just like dessert: when it’s healthy, it can be a part of your daily diet, and when it’s decadent, just keep it for special occasions. But saying no to sweets, and never ever have dessert, just makes people crave it even more. That’s why, I believe that balance is the key.

So this is the healthy, everyday option, ready in approximately 30 minutes ( including baking) and very low on fat and sugar. It’s soft, chewy and satisfying, perfect for that in-between-the-meals sweet craving.

One more thing: both my husband and Lili asked for more, they didn’t even noticed that there dessert was healthy!

And to make sure that this really is a healthy dessert, use real all natural peanut butter, without any sugar and oil added.

Here’s what you’ll need :

1 mashed banana
1 tablespoon cocoa
1/2 cup quick oats
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
1/2 cup flour
1 egg
2 spoons of milk ( can be soya milk)
3 tablespoons of honey ( can be 1/4 cup or maple sirup, or brown sugar)

Just mix it all together in a bowl. Form round patties, and bake on 350F for around 25 minutes. That’s it. Really simple :). Enjoy !

I’ll be very honest with you here. It’s not a healthy dessert! So if you’re struggling with diabetes, just stop reading now, and go check out one of my healthy desserts. However, if you’re looking for a ridiculously decadent dessert that’ll knock your guests socks off, look no further !

These cookie dough Oreo bars are one of these addictive, gooey, chocolaty and crunchy desserts, that your guests, family, even your neighbour, will love. I’ve made them last weekend and suddenly I’ve became the-best-daughter-in-law-ever! And if I wouldn’t be already married to my husband, he would have literally proposed to me. With his mouth full of this cookie dough Oreo bar. Yes, they are that good.

 

So now you’re probably thinking that if these cookie dough Oreo bars are so crazy delicious then they must be fairly complicated. No. They really aren’t. And there is no baking involved :). Here is what you need :

1/2 cup soft butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 cup Oreo baking crumbs
1 cup white chocolate chips
1 can of sweetend condensed milk

For the Oreo crust:
1 1/4 cup Oreo baking crumbs
1/4 cup melted butter

Start by preparing the Oreo crust. Just mix the Oreo crumbs with melted butter, and press them firmly to the bottom of your baking dish. Then using your electric mixer, mix the brown sugar with soft butter,then add slowly the flour, and Oreo baking crumbs. Then slowly pour the condensed milk, and in the end chocolate chips. Now pour your sticky mixture on top of the Oreo crust, and let it refrigerate a couple of hours. Cut using sharp knife.

You can even freeze them once they’re cut in to bars, with sheets of parchment paper in between. They are even better cold!
