Mommy and me party outfits on a budget
December for our family means family gatherings, Christmas parties and festive dinners! So many special occasions to dress up! And lately, I just love it when both my daughters and me, we mach together with coordinated outfits! But since I think it’s really important to stay budget savvy at this time of a year, I decided to get one festive versatile mommy and me matching outfit for each of us, and simply accessorize it differently for different occasions this December!
And whats more elegant, festive and versatile if not a little black dress? I always loved little black dresses. You just can’t go wrong with a black dress! First, whatever your body shape is, they always look good. Second, you can use them as a “blank canvas” and by switching the accessories make them look completely different from one occasion to another!
So I decided to go for a black dress look for both me and my daughters. And when I say matching outfits, it doesn’t mean they’re supposed to be dress exactly like me. It’s more about similar cuts, shapes and colors!
So for my first family party of the season, I decided to match my black lace belted dress with pretty sparkly flats and round classic earnings ( all from Giant Tiger!) and add a simple classic watch.
Next dinner party, I’ll simply switch for high heals, I’ll leave the belt and the watch behind and add a long necklace and a bracelet instead. And voila, I’ll have a whole new outfit!
And as for my daughters, I think that dressing kids in black and white makes them look festive right away. I found a perfect simple black dress (that comes in red too) for Rose, made from a gorgeous textured thick material, and a sparkly black tutu skirt with a lovely festive tee for Lili, all at Giant Tiger! (And let me tell you, I seen a skirt like that a week ago in one very expensive kids store.. for five times the price! And this one, even prettier, was 10$! Now that’s a deal!)
So this holiday season, instead of spending lots of money for many different outfits for me and my daughters, I decided to simplify my shopping and I couldn’t be more happy about it!
I feel we’re ready for all the family gatherings, Christmas parties, group photos and joyful dancing (even though my both daughters refuse to wear shoes!) and I know we’ll have best December ever! All matching together in our mommy and me party outfits on a budget!
