Chocolate dipped sugar cookies
Every year in early december me and my two daughters we bake cookies together. Some years we try new recipes, but in the end we always come back to my favourite classic: Polish sugar cookie recipe, that makes the best crunchy and buttery cookies in the world. And these cookies are best when dipped in chocolate. It also happens to be the most fun part for my kids: dipping the cookies and decorating them with sweet sprinkles!
For this recipe to shine, you really need the best ingredients, because while it’s quite simple, it’s really all about that melting in your mouth buttery cookie and the best chocolate you can get your hands on!
That’s why I got really excited when I found the new Chocolats Favoris products- from their amazing chocolate to baking gear –because what better way to see how good is chocolate then by making the best recipe you now with it!
Also, imagine my surprise when in inside of their beautiful new cookbook I found these chocolate dipped cookies. Their recipe is all about chocolate ( and suggests using homemade-or store bought cookies) so I decided to try their recipe for coloured white chocolate!
So here’s my old Polish cookie recipe upgraded with the most amazing chocolate drops : aka, melt in your mouth large chocolate chips, perfect for baking or indulging in a little sweet treat! ( My favourite are the milk chocolate drops of course, while my kids are now obsessed with their white chocolate and dulce de leche ones.)
What you’ll need for the cookies:
3/4 cup softened butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 and 1/4 cups flour
Chocolate dipping:
- one cup of milk chocolate drops
- one cup of dark chocolate drops
- one cup of dulce de leche drops chocolate
- one cup of white chocolate drops+ a drop of red food colouring
Start by mixing together butter with sugar, egg and vanilla extract. Then add the dry ingredients, and mix it all well. Roll the dough in a ball, and chill in the fridge for an hour.
Then take it out of the fridge, cut a thick slice of the dough , and roll it to cut your cookies out (while you’re not using the rest of dough, put it back in the fridge). The quantities here make around 2 sheets of cookies. Bake them on 350F for around 20 minutes.
As soon as your cookies are baked and cooled off, it’s time to melt that chocolate!
You can melt your chocolate on the stove or in the microwave, though I prefer to melt it in the microwave for 15 seconds at a time, stir, and then put it back in for 15 seconds- that way it melts perfectly well, and much faster than on the stove!
And to get that pretty pale pink while chocolate dip, simply add a drop or two of red food coloring to your white chocolate. Stir and voila! It’s time to dip the cookies! The best part, according to my kids!
Then we decorated our cookies with the Chocolate Favors toppings: chocolate crisp pearls and dehydrated marshmallows, they don’t only look cute but actually taste great too!
My little helpers where so proud of themselves, and I was really happy to avoid them getting horribly dirty ( thanks to these cover-ups) Not to mentions the fact that the cookies turned out amazing! Crunchy yet melting in your mouth with the best chocolate taste ever!
Now, next time I’ll be baking please remind me to make a double batch of these cookies- they disappear way too fast!
