Cozy Holiday home tour 2021

Welcome to my Cozy Holiday home tour! I’m so happy you’re here! Not only because it’s the best time of the year and I get to decorate for my favorite holiday- but also because it’s our second Christmas here in our new home in the forest and we have come so far since last year’s tour! And if you’re coming here from Laura’s beautiful home, welcome!

While I tried my best to make that last Christmas cozy for my family, believe me when I say that having no more old carpet feels devine and so much more festive! Also, last year I haven’t even shared with you my bedroom nor a full kitchen view – this year it’s all finished and decked out! Not to mention the changes that happened in the bedrooms! I’m so excited to share it all with you!

So since you’re my guest , I’m letting you in through our red front door- we already have lots of snow so with a couple of red accents it feels extra festive without a ton of decor!

Welcome in our open space- on the right our living room- ala a cozy winter wonderland!

This year I decided to go for more greens and golds in my decor- and it feels so right with all the pine trees we see out the windows! I love it when the inside of the home somehow resembles the outside- it just feels more cohesive 🙂

So I have recently made a lot of changes to this space- the biggest being finally closing the bizarre doors we had on each side of the fireplace here ( aka thank you hubby for your hard work!). In place I added new cabinets that I painted white and now I love how they balance my vintage pieces in this room.

I also finally decided to go for a light fixture that will feel both contemporary and interesting- and then we did a coffee table hack using our old table and kijiji side table! So on the coffee table I added just a little bit of sparkle and some wood candle sticks- while keeping my real plant that thrives here- I know it’s somehow unorthodox to mix plants in Holiday decor but I think it feels just right!

And I just love the full garland look on the fireplace – it may be a trend among us bloggers but I’m loving it! Al the greenery works just so well in our snowy Montreal home. I also used a lot of thrifted ornaments and art- I just really love the look of old mixed with new. Talking about old pieces- last month I added here an old dresser/buffet piece I found on kijiji- the only wood piece you’ll find here – that is both vintage and cozy- and I brought back a gallery wall now that I finally have space for it- and I’m so happy to have my favorite art to look at!

Right next to the old dresser/buffet is our old chesterfield sofa- I just added some simple holiday pillows and then I decided to try doing some window art with a chalk marker- and I must say it turned out really magical!

On the other side of our living room there’s our kitchen, aka the place where as a mom of three I spend most of my time 😉 So of course I wanted it to feel extra cheerful and festive! And wha’s more festive than everything Santa ?

Last year I started a new family tradition for my kids- a hot chocolate station set right here on the kitchen island. It looks so cozy and we use it almost daily too – every time after playing outside kids can ask me for some hot chocolate- with mini marshmallows or a candy cane- and I might have some from time to time too 🙂

Now, let’s leave the kitchen and go visit upstairs bedrooms! Here, I have set up mini trees in my kids rooms, and let me tell you, doing homework is so much more fun with christmas tree glow!

Then in my bedroom I decided to set a a full tree this year! It may be the personal thinks I was going through (aren’t we all) or the ultra gloomy fall we had, but I really needed more light and warmth. I never had a tree in my bedroom before but seriously it has been the best decision ever! I just feel so much better going back to my bedroom at the end of the day now- and my bed is extra cozy now with those twinkle lights in here!

Now, on the way out , in the hallway you’ll pass by our advent calendar-another one of our family traditions – that I both love and that makes me even more busy this season 😉 I may still need to finish filling it – just don’t tell my kids 😉
